The Ascension Church, Bengaluru is nestled in the midst of delicious fruit-bearing and beautiful flowering trees, in St. May’s Church, Maruthi Seva Nagar. Even before the Independence of our country in 1947, fifteen acres of land was purchased by the late Archbishop Thomas Pothacamury with the aim of creating a strong Catholic presence – with a church and catholic institutions. Subsequently many institutions – national, regional and diocesan, cropped up catering the many needs of the Catholic Christian community. The Ascension Church as a parish was erected in 1968, and Fr. Joachim D’souza was installed as the first Parish Priest.
